The Accelerator is a non-elemental gun available for Lance in Epic Battle Fantasy 4 and 5. In EBF4, it is exclusive to the Steam release of the game and the Premium Pack. In EBF5, it is currently exclusive to the paid Steam release of the game and the outdated free Battle Demo.
Description[]
The Accelerator is a large steampunk gun with a clock theme, most noticeably the large clock near its front. The clock is surrounded with small, washer-like knobs, and its face has two hands - a featureless needle and a longer, jagged arrow. A pair of long, brownish protrusions extend behind the clock, lined with small holes; a smaller, darker protrusion sticks out of the bottom, with two rivets and a wire or tube connecting it to the main barrel of the gun. The back of the gun is dotted with gears and rivets, but their exact arrangement changes between appearances.
True to its name, the Accelerator's signature trait is its ability to buff the party's speed and agility with its special effects, usually including a chance to cast Speed Up between turns; additionally, it helps Lance use his devastating Hyper Beam skill by providing auto-statuses that mitigate its charging turn. It also tends to have decent balanced offenses and a resistance to three elements: Fire, Thunder, and Ice.
Epic Battle Fantasy 4[]
The Accelerator is primarily copper with tan details. It has two asymmetrical barrels, with the longer of the two being connected to the wire/tube on the bottom. Said protrusion has a small copper ring around the middle, its purpose unknown. The gun's stock appears to have two layers, each bearing two large gears; the outer layer has them mostly horizontal, while the inner layer has them arranged vertically. Both layers have small tan rivets along their rear corner. The gears also have slightly different appearances; two of them have empty centers, one has a copper center, and the last has a solid tan appearance.
Aside from a good bonus to Attack and Magic Attack, the Accelerator specializes in buffing the party between turns. It can randomly give Lance a Charge for his Hyper Beam skill or cast Speed Up on a random ally, buffing their Accuracy and Evade. While not especially reliable, it's interesting option for an offensive support build; a status Flair is recommended to let Lance make even more of an impact with his "free" Hyper Beams.
The Accelerator resists Fire, Thunder, and Ice. None of these become an immunity at Level 5.
Epic Battle Fantasy 5[]
Compared to its EBF4 appearance, the Accelerator lost its secondary barrel while gaining a second wire/tube along the underside and a slightly darker color scheme. The gears and rivets on its back side have been rearranged significantly, with three identical gears in a roughly horizontal arrangement and a single rivet visible above and below them; it has also gained two rivets on the base of its grip. It colors Lance's revolver brassy brown, with a tan barrel and a similarly-colored gear on the back.
Normal[]
The Accelerator grants a decent boost to Attack, Magic Attack, Accuracy and Evade. Its passive effects can give Haste to Lance or cast Speed Up to do the same for a random ally; on the other hand, its single-target weapon-elemental skills have a good chance to unleash Slow Down to try and Stun a foe. It can also inflict Bad Luck alongside a fair Accuracy debuff, which combine to greatly reduce the victim's hit chance even if they avoid being Stunned by the unleash.
While it's still quite luck-based, the Accelerator is one of the party's more reliable options for passive Haste application. If it gives Lance the status, he can use it to charge and fire a Hyper Beam in one turn; while this won't trigger the Slow Down unleash, it'll spread Bad Luck and Accuracy debuffs among all foes at once. It can be used to support a Doom status build, but it's hampered by the low trigger chance on its auto-Charge; the likes of Golden Axe Matt or Human Skull NoLegs will be more consistent. Alternatively, Lance can use the Bitey Badge to maintain and amplify the gun's on-hit debuff with Tired.
The Accelerator is resistant to Fire, Thunder, and Ice, but none of them will become an immunity at Level 5.
Equip Remix[]
In terms of its stats, the Alt Accelerator is one of the weakest guns in the series; it significantly reduces Lance's offenses and defenses while also cutting into his HP. However, it compensates for this with several useful support abilities: its weapon-elemental skills have a decent chance to Stun foes, it increases the potency of buff and debuff skills, and it is guaranteed to grant Haste between turns, ensuring that Lance will be able to act twice per round after the first turn.
Compared to the Alt Dragon's Feather (another weapon with permanent Haste), the Alt Accelerator has a less severe HP penalty, no elemental weakness, and much more useful Equipment Effects for a support build. While Lance can't make much use of the buff boost, he greatly appreciates the debuff boost; moreover, the constant Haste lets him easily spam Hyper Beam to Stun entire waves of foes (especially with status-boosting hats and armor). However, if the player wants to specifically focus on Lance's debuffing skills or simply doesn't like the Alt Accelerator's penalties, the Alt Biohazard Blaster trades its auto-Haste effect for better offensive and defensive capabilities.
The Alt Accelerator has resistances to Stun, Stagger, Confuse, Disable, and Syphon; it becomes immune to all of them at Level 5.
Epic Battle Fantasy 4[]
The Accelerator is found on Battle Mountain, in a chest at the top-right of the desert block puzzle screen accessible after defeating Rainbow Rafflesia. The Stepladder is required to get this far.

The Accelerator is found inside a chest in the Crystal Caverns, one screen east of the entrance. The chest is on the right side of the northernmost alcove; to reach it, the Slip-N-Slide puzzle must be solved.
