Chibi Knight is a miniboss in Epic Battle Fantasy 5. She is fought in the Mystic Woods, and reappears as the first opponent of the Miniboss Rush in the Temple of Trials. If a "Foe Remix" Custom Game is being played, she also appears in the Iron Fortress and NoLegs's solo challenge in the Battle Arena, albeit without the ability to call in backup; in the latter instance, her base HP is slightly reduced as well.

Appearance[]

Chibi Knight is the eponymous character of the Chibi Knight series of Flash games, created by Nick Pasto. Her appearance in EBF5 is based on her default equipment, representing her at the beginning of her adventures.

Chibi Knight is a small being resembling a head with hands and feet hovering beside and below her. Her features are mostly obscured by the metal armor she wears; her helmet is brown and squarish, with a line of rivets along the top edge and a narrow visor that only shows her blue eyes behind it. She also wears gray metal gloves and boots, with the latter having dark brown soles. Her weapon of choice is a sword with a slightly curved, light silver blade and a brown hilt; the blade has a large patch of rust, but seems to be quite shiny and well-maintained otherwise.

Overview[]

Chibi Knight is a straightforward miniboss who only uses non-elemental physical attacks that hit multiple times; two hit a single player and one changes targets every two hits. These attacks are fairly strong - especially coming off of her good base Attack - but they lack any special effects.

Defensively, Chibi Knight's only advantages are slightly above-average Evade and some debuff resistance - she has a small resistance to Defence and Magic Defence drops, a bit more resistance to HP debuffs, and a strong resistance to having her Attack and Magic Attack reduced (not that she uses the latter). On the other hand, she's weak to Fire, Thunder, and Ice and lacks any elemental or status resistances, giving the player numerous options to leave her helpless or just defeat her outright. Enabling "More Foe Resistance" makes her neutral to all elements and very resistant to Accuracy and Evade debuffs.

Unlike most foes in EBF5, Chibi Knight cannot be captured to be used as a summon; when her HP is depleted, she'll automatically Surrender and flee. Only on her last appearance as Ultra Chibi Knight can she be captured.

Chibi Knight is also notable for being one of the few foes who can have a rare Food item stolen from her; in this case, a Hamburger. As such, the player may wish to repeatedly steal from Chibi Knight to farm Hamburgers; this is especially efficient in the Miniboss Rush, where she appears in the first wave instead of the second. If "Foe Remix" is enabled, NoLegs will have another opportunity to farm her in his Battle Arena challenge.

Notes: 2 hits per target before retargeting.
Will not target the same player twice in a row unless they have EBF5 Status Target Target or no other targets are available.
Summon None -- -- ---- -- -- -- -- -- --
Notes: Summons either a Panda Bear (if fought in the Mystic Woods), or a Brown Bear (if fought in the Temple of Trials); if Foe Remix is enabled, summons a Leafy Chomper when fought in the Temple of Trials instead of a Brown Bear. Summoned foes will be at the same level as Chibi Knight.

Battle Logic[]

The following describes general logic of the enemy and attack patterns, with chances of each attack to be used. Conditions are listed from highest to lowest priority unless specified otherwise.

Action

  • If no other foes are left and Summon Score is ≥3 → Summon*;
  • If playing on Hard/Epic, <24% HP and no other foes are left → Summon*;
  • <44% HP → Spinning Slash (1/2), Jumping Slash (1/2);
  • <74% HP → Double Slash (1/3), Spinning Slash (1/3), Jumping Slash (1/3);
  • Otherwise → Double Slash.

* Summon Score increases by 1 if no other foes are left (checked at the start of Chibi Knight's turn), and resets to 0 after using Summon.

* Summon is disabled when fighting Chibi Knight in the Battle Arena, or in the Iron Fortress in Foe Remix.

Counter (only if Counter-Attacking Foes is enabled)

  • 100% → Double Slash.

Strategy[]

For a midgame miniboss, Chibi Knight isn't very threatening; her main advantage is her unexpected appearance as the second wave of a seemingly-normal encounter. She can deal surprisingly high damage that can't be resisted, but her complete lack of status resistance means you can just Stun or Freeze-lock her (Anna's Spark and Frost Arrow, as well as NoLegs' Neon Lightbulb and Book of Spells can be used to inflict them), preventing her from ever being able to retaliate. Alternatively, you can also inflict Instant Death, either directly or by combining Bad Luck and Doom.

If you want to battle Chibi Knight the old-fashioned way, remember that she (and her backup) only uses physical attacks. As such, focus on high Defence for the party and debuffing Chibi Knight's Attack and Accuracy (keep in mind that she's very resistant to debuffs for the former, as well as the latter if "More Foe Resistance" is enabled). Her elemental weaknesses are quite accessible, but her lack of resistances means that even neutral elements can severely hurt her with the appropriate damage stacking.

When first fought in the Mystic Woods, Chibi Knight comes with a Brown Bear, which can be easily Stunned to make it harmless; if the Brown Bear dies, Chibi Knight can summon Panda Bears to replace it, which can be largely ignored until Chibi Knight herself has been defeated, since they won't do anything until damaged. When fought in the Temple of Trials, she instead starts with a Panda Bear and summons Brown Bears to replace it if it dies; avoid using multi-target skills or auto-summons to keep the Panda Bear passive while you deal with Chibi Knight.

In "Foe Remix", Chibi Knight first appears in the Iron Fortress; she can't summon backup this time, but the player will have less options to exploit her lacking resistances. In this situation, Matt can use his weapon-elemental attacks to apply Chill (via the Ultra Pro 9000X) or Wet (via the Sapphire Saint or the Baby Penguin) in order to support Anna and/or NoLegs's Freeze attempts.
