The Crimson Dragon is a Fire-elemental bow available for Anna in Epic Battle Fantasy 4 and 5.

Description[]

The Crimson Dragon, as the name suggests, is an entirely red bow with wide, flat limbs. Each limb has three slightly curved points near the grip, possibly evoking a dragon's jaws or wings (as per its name and EBF5 item description). The limbs are inlaid with an irregular linear pattern, and red cloth seems to be wrapped around the grip.

In EBF4, the Crimson Dragon's arrows have heads and tail "feathers" made of the same material as the bow itself. In EBF5, the arrows are made entirely of red metal, with a glowing orange orb set in the tail.

The Crimson Dragon is generally a hybrid offensive bow that makes Anna resistant to Fire and weak to Water; it also boosts her Fire skills while giving her an unleash to exploit it.

Epic Battle Fantasy 4[]

The Crimson Dragon provides above-average Attack and Magic Attack; the latter is tied with the Atlantis for the second-best of any bow. It has a fair chance of inflicting Burn with Weapon-elemental skills, and its Dragon Flame unleash can add further Burn stacks while also dealing a bit of magical Fire damage. It empowers Anna's Fire skills, but she lacks any natural skills to take advantage of it, relegating the bow's boost to shared skills and its own unleash.

The Crimson Dragon has similarities to the Black Widow, with identical Attack and an unleash to help Anna utilize their less-than-synergistic elemental boost. Although the Crimson Dragon has much better Magic Attack for healing/mixed offensive strategies, the Black Widow's on-hit Curse and weapon-elemental counter attack are typically more useful for Anna.

The Crimson Dragon resists Fire and Freeze while being weak to Water. The latter remains constant at all levels, but forging the bow to Level 5 will make it completely immune to Freeze.

Epic Battle Fantasy 5[]

Normal[]

The Crimson Dragon is an offensive bow that focuses on the Burn status, with the third-best Attack and second-best Magic Attack among bows. It can unleash Fire Crystals and randomly casts Fire Spin between turns, both of which can Burn and debuff Defence; additionally, its Weapon-elemental skills also inflict Burn on their targets.

Despite its literal firepower, the Crimson Dragon is a poor fit for Anna's natural skills. Its Burns and Defence debuffs are too weak and niche to make it useful for support, even with debuff-boosting gear. Offensively, it's outclassed by bows with higher Attack and more synergistic elemental boosts (like The Stinger or the Iron Tusk), while other party members are typically better for inflicting Fire damage.

The Crimson Dragon resists Fire and Ice, becoming immune to neither at Level 5. It is also vulnerable to Water, which doesn't change as it is forged.

Equip Remix[]

The Alt Crimson Dragon has weak Attack, usable Magic Attack, substantial Defence and Magic Defence, and a little extra HP. It empowers debuffs and Fire attacks, which complements its ability to inflict Dry with its Weapon-elemental skills; unfortunately, Anna lacks natural Fire skills and doesn't learn an especially wide range of debuffing skills. The bow can also summon a Red Crystal to sear and Scorch a foe with powerful Fire magic, or a Rock Eater to bombard all foes with magical Fire damage and Dry status.

With its terrible Attack - tied with the Alt Eagle Eye and the Alt Aquamarine for the third-worst of any Alt bow - and great overall bulk, the Alt Crimson Dragon is best suited for supporting a Dry-focused party. Its auto-summons aren't particularly reliable, but the Rock Eater can supplement Dry applied by Arrow Rain and Anna's other weapon-elemental skills; Sharpen support is useful to help extend Scorch applied by the Red Crystal. Its Magic Attack is serviceable enough if Anna needs to attack or heal, but other bows (such as the Alt Gaia's Gift or the Alt Emerald Cyclone) are better for her unorthodox magical offensive build. For debuffing purposes, it tends to be outclassed by the Alt Alchemist's Bow and especially the Alt Regal Turtle.

The Alt Crimson Dragon resists Fire, Ice, and Dark. None of them become an immunity at Level 5.

Epic Battle Fantasy 4[]

The Crimson Dragon can be bought in the Greenwood Village Equipment Shop for 3,000 gold.

Trivia[]

  • With Equip Remix enabled in EBF5, the Alt Crimson Dragon becomes something of a counterpart to the Alt Cold Steel, with an opposite element, summons, and general role.
