The Death Scythe is a Dark-elemental staff available for Natalie in Epic Battle Fantasy 4. It is exclusive to the Steam release of the game and the Premium Pack.
Description[]
The Death Scythe is a large black scythe with a dark grey blade and a head carved to resemble a decaying skull with glowing red eyes. It also has large spiked projections on the pommel and the upper edge of the head.
The Death Scythe has slightly above-average Magic Attack (tied with the Coral Staff for the fourth-highest among staves) and is also the only staff since the Battle Mountain update to increase Natalie's Attack. Additionally, it grants sizable boosts to Accuracy and Evade, with the latter only falling behind the Road Sign among Natalie's weapons. It powers up Dark skills and has two means of inflicting Instant Death; it unleashes Death Spike with weapon-elemental skills and randomly casts Grim Reaper between turns.
As with many of Natalie's staves in EBF4, the Death Scythe has decent Magic Attack and should be used when elementally appropriate, or substituted for the Crystal Staff. While Natalie has no meaningful use for its Attack stat, it's a little stronger than most of its elemental competitors while also boosting some of her natural skills, giving her solid damage output even when she can't instantly kill her enemies. It's still far weaker than Hela's Staff, but compensates by being much safer to use, even when facing foes that can exploit its elemental weakness. On the other hand, its late availability means that it probably won't see much use aside from the final challenges of the game.
The Death Scythe provides resistance to Dark, Doom, and Instant Death; it becomes immune to the latter two at Level 5. However, it also weakens Natalie's Holy resistance by 30%, regardless of its forging level.
Epic Battle Fantasy 4[]
The Death Scythe is found at the summit of Battle Mountain, specifically in one of two chests at the bottom-left corner of the shops screen. The chests are accessible after defeating all four Dark Players; Winged Boots are required to get this far.
