Lucky Star

Lucky Star about to fall on a Wind Sprite, EBF4

Lucky Star is a basic non-elemental skill available for Natalie throughout the Epic Battle Fantasy series.

Description[]

When cast, a large, sparkling star made of golden energy appears from thin air and drops on the target, dealing non-elemental magic damage. It is most notable for its extremely high Randomness Factor, which causes its damage to vary. It can barely tickle its victim, or inflict devastating damage far beyond its humble appearance and low MP cost.

In most games, Lucky Star is one of Natalie's default spells. While its non-elemental nature allows her to use it without fear against just about anything, its unreliable damage output and inability to be boosted by weaknesses or Status Effects means that other spells are usually preferable.

Epic Battle Fantasy 3[]

Like all skills in EBF3 and later, Lucky Star can now be upgraded with AP. Its MP cost has been reduced from its previous appearances (even at maximum level), and it has a higher-than-average critical hit ratio. Its power can be boosted by the Star Hairclip, and the Crystal Staff has a chance to cast Lucky Star as a counter attack once upgraded to Level 4.

Epic Battle Fantasy 4[]

Lucky Star was largely unchanged in EBF4, but it can be upgraded to a higher power level that costs a little more MP to cast. It also has a higher critical hit rate and a slightly lower Randomness Factor, making it a little more consistent.

The Shooting Star can unleash Lucky Star with its weapon-elemental skills.

Epic Battle Fantasy 5[]

Natalie already knows Lucky Star at Level 2 when she joins the party in Hope Harbor. It becomes Star Shower at Level 4, and its Randomness Factor has been increased to nearly double that of its EBF4 incarnation.

The Shooting Star has the ability to cast Lucky Star with Natalie's single-target weapon-elemental skills. Some foes and a weather condition can cast a variant of the skill called Falling Star.

  • Lucky Star is a reference to the manga and anime of the same name. The spell's appearance is identical to the star that appears in the title screen of the Lucky Star anime.
