The Rainbloom is a foe in Epic Battle Fantasy 4. It is only found on Battle Mountain; as such, it is exclusive to the Steam release of the game and the post-Battle Mountain update version of the Premium Pack.

Rainblooms are usually summoned by the Rainbow Rafflesia, but a single specimen accompanies the rest of the Flowers in the 24th wave of the Monster Marathon.

Appearance[]

The Rainbloom is a large flower with two rings of petals surrounding a single orange stamen. The inner ring of petals are white and pointed - almost resembling jagged teeth at a glance - but the outer ring of petals are rounded and vibrantly colored. Going clockwise from the petal nearest to the "camera" of the screen, the outer petals are colored yellow, green, cyan, periwinkle blue, royal blue, fuchsia, and red.

Like all Flowers, the Rainbloom grows on a thick, segmented green stem with a single, slightly notched green leaf sticking out of the side.

Overview[]

The Rainbloom is an aggravating foe with no less than six different elemental spells to choose from. While it can only target one player at a time, its immense base Magic Attack gives its spells a good amount of punch, and its sheer variety of elements makes resistance difficult at best. Each spell also has an associated debuff or status effect, although the nastiest ones (Stun and Freeze) have extremely low infliction rates.

Like the Florn, the Rainbloom has a suicidal physical attack, but it will only use it while suffering from Syphon or Berserk. This attack deals non-elemental damage to a single player; while its base power is higher than the Rainbloom's spells, it runs on its average Attack stat on top of killing it in the process. As such, taking a turn to Syphon a Rainbloom will usually reduce its damage output in the long run, serving as the quickest and easiest way to take it out in any case.

If fought conventionally, the Rainbloom is weak to Wind while resisting Dark and Holy. It has no resistances to status effects or stat drops. Activating "More Foe Resistance" turns its Wind weakness into a resistance, makes it vulnerable to Earth, and gives it resistance to Stun and all debuffs.

Battle Logic[]

The following describes general logic of the enemy and attack patterns, with chances of each attack to be used. Conditions are listed from highest to lowest priority unless specified otherwise.

  • Berserked or/and Syphoned → Suicide;
  • Otherwise → Fireball (1/6), Thunderbolt (1/6), Iceshard (1/6), Gaia Bloom (1/6), Whirlwind (1/6), Bubbles (1/6).

Trivia[]

  • The Rainbloom is the only member of the Flowers that doesn't appear in Epic Battle Fantasy 5. However, it has a successor of sorts in the Fabulous Gloop, another colorful, plant-based foe with a wide range of elemental magic attacks to use in battle; it even uses most of the Rainbloom's elemental spells, only replacing Bubbles with Whirlpool.
