Swift brand 2 source

The Swift Brand is a Wind-elemental sword available for Matt in Epic Battle Fantasy 2 and 3.

Description[]

The Swift Brand has a long, straight silver blade with a curved base and a hollow center, presumably to make it lighter and easier to wield. It has a large green guard with two circular indentations and a small point at the base of the blade, giving it an overall shape reminiscent of a pear or a teardrop. A green spike is attached to either side of the guard by a pair of tiny green struts. The guard has some lighter green details around the edge, matching the color of the hilt. On the other end of the hilt is a round green pommel with a tiny "X" shape in the middle.

As its name suggests, the Swift Brand focuses on improving Matt's Accuracy and Evade, although this comes at the cost of poor offensive power. It also empowers Wind Slash, allowing Matt to deal more damage to all foes at once.

Epic Battle Fantasy 2[]

The Swift Brand's Accuracy and Evade are easily the best of any sword, but a lack of boosts to Matt's offenses or defenses can make it rather weak in combat. Its boost to Windslash can make it useful for cutting through waves of weak foes, and its Unleash saddles the victim with a strong Attack debuff; however other swords are generally more reliable, especially against bosses.

The Swift Brand also gives Matt a partial Wind element to his weapon-elemental attacks...at least, it was supposed to. Unfortunately, a coding error in EBF2 made it Holy-based instead, despite what the game says; this was fixed for the EBF Collection.

Epic Battle Fantasy 3[]

The Swift Brand has equally mediocre Attack and Magic Attack stats, but its Accuracy and Evade are unmatched among swords - it can boost the latter even further by using its Unleash. While it doesn't empower Wind skills (not that Matt has many options in that regard to begin with), it enhances Wind Slash and Quick Slash (although the latter is not mentioned in its description) and gives weapon-elemental skills a partial Wind element.

While the Swift Brand's Legend is Matt's strongest option for Wind damage, it lacks the offensive power to be useful in virtually every scenario. The Evade buff granted by its Unleash is stronger than the one granted by Reflex, but only affects Matt; conversely, its Accuracy boost is situational at best, especially since Quick Slash on its own is usually enough in said situations. Overall, the Swift Brand's niches are too limited to let it stand out in the face of more powerful swords.

The Swift Brand strongly resists Wind and Doom, with a lesser resistance to Earth. At Level 5, it becomes completely immune to Doom.

Epic Battle Fantasy 2[]

Before the EBF Collection update, the Swift Brand was actually Holy-elemental instead of Wind-elemental.

Epic Battle Fantasy 3[]

The Swift Brand is found in the restricted 10 Medals Area, which becomes accessible after getting 10 Medals. Despite the description only mentioning Wind Slash, Quick Slash is also boosted when using the sword.
