Epic Battle Fantasy 5 - Speculation Topic

  • Seeing that Epic Battle Fantasy 5 is in development, and some people are hyping in anticipation, I will try to liven up this forum a bit by creating this topic.

As the name implies, it a topic about EBF5 where you can freely write your speculations and such, discuss some ideas, and basically talk about the upcoming game!

    Have fun!

    • I wonder if NoLegs will begin to speak more, with Natalie as his translator, as Natz does speak Cat.

    • A bit more could be to the character histories;their childhood or stuff like that so we know more about their character.

        Loading editor
    • FlooRose, that's not really the EBF style.

    • Where is it stated that Natz speaks Cat?

        Loading editor
    • She does not "speak cat", though she definitely shows more understanding of what various creatures mean than Matt and Lance. Such as in EBF3 when doing quest for the cat at the ruins.

    • All I want is Phyrnna as playable character, with a lot of music-related spells whose buff the allies. And making backup characters more useful, I literally played the whole game with Matt being in backup as I found him really weak and used Anna instead.

    • Actually, I find that Matt can be one of the strongest characters.

If you're running through the game with a single character, he can output SIGNIFICANTLY more damage than running through it with just one of the others - Revenge is THAT powerful when the entire rest of the party is dead.

    • Well, for me Anna's damage is really high, while Natz and Lance do the work when the magic is needed.

    • I wonder what the new system in place of Mana will be? Maybe a party wide system? I dunno

    • More story! Because we all know how EBF 4 ended!

    • Allow me to clear a few things up: he did say that he was going to use a cooldown system (maybe) so now, not only is more strategy involved thanks to the lack of spamming, but now you can't be completley crippled with that one spell that steals your MP. Also, he made a few changes to encourage more people to use their backups (party buffs affect backup, some enemies can attack backup rarely, being in backup heals them, etc.). An interesting tidbit was that he said that he was thinking of giving certain foes a line or two of dialogue.

Also, in Bullet heaven 2, Natz translates a few of NoLeg's lines. You probably remember when Natz was telling Anna that NoLegs was accusing her of being racist against cats.

    • Yea, I think he'll have a cooldown time. Some of the abilities are completely ignored.

Also, YEA!! More story and hopefully some reappearances from Matt's animations (Kat, Lancelot, etc.) (I know Kat is dead though... haven't watched all of the animations to see who's alive and whatnot)

There's probably going to be unique dialogue. Also, I swear if I see Nat speak cat without any magic, I'll probably go insane. I do NOT want to know what happens in her conversations with NoLegs

      As DLC? Maybe so....

Like backstories that flesh them out for other people to relate to?

Maybe they could be all orphans.

Akin to telepathy from Pokemon with the likes of Mew and Lucario for example?

    • No, definitely not telepathy, that would make no sense. I presume it is something along the lines of animal empathy.

      So no Legs cannot talk?

Maybe just saying "meow" could be a different language akin to dragon tongue in skyrim, and only Natalie can understand it.

The kittens could have their own language.

    • Having a DLC character in a JRPG seems a bit ridiculous. It would be insanely difficult to balance properly.

I think you're looking into No-Legs speech a bit too much. Of course he talks, it's been shown that he understands speech and the others seem to understand him to various degrees. He's R2D2.

      I beg to differ.

Which one? What the normal ones that just punch you a little bit?

I dont think they're secret enemies, as they have been normal mob enemies since EBF1.

They've only been in Number 2 and 4.

    • He's right about one thing though. They arn't secret enemies. But you don't see them very often.

What's scary is that you can literally 1 shot "The Creator" on Epic with a counter attack using the "Anarchy" sword and Debilitate.

It also worrys me from a moral point of view. Why is that skill so good? Would that not be Retribution instead of Revenge? (Yes i do know it's because it keeps the skill name simple and easy to read. Just me thinking on the subject of morality is all.)
